We’ve perfected our logo design process and follow these steps with each brand development project that we work on. Below we show a favorite logo development project we completed for an upstate New York gluten-free bakery. See more of our completed logos.
Discovery, Research & Phase
The discovery phase provides an opportunity for our team to explore and understand all goals, creative concepts, research and scope of the project. We interview key stakeholders in our brand assessment kickoff meeting walking our clients through a brand questionnaire that helps articulate what you would like to achieve from your new logo. After this meeting, we complete an internal competitive analysis looking at how other brands position themselves and what how your new logo/brand can be differentiated from your competitors. From all of this information and our own additional research we develop a written creative brief that provides the foundation for our creative team’s direction.
Logo Design
With the creative brief in hand our team develops ideas for logos on paper. We edit and refine our top options and then bring them to life on the computer:
We present three fully refined black and white logo options to the client to review. This is done in order to keep the focus on the mark and not the color selection:
At this point, we ask our clients to choose logo direction and with their feedback we further refine the mark.
Once the black and white logo design is approved, we explore color palettes:
Brand Execution
When the logo design is finalized, we develop brand guidelines and build out additional materials which may include items such as a stationery suite, a website or a packaging system. With Lynnie Lynne’s, we developed stationery and a placeholder website. The clients had this to say about the final mark: “We are so happy!! The vines and kitchen utensils truly speak to who we are…and are SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!”
