The Trillion team is growing and we would like to introduce you to the talented Jess Minzner who is our Junior Graphic Designer.

To introduce Jess to you we asked her a few questions:

Jess Minzner, what is your design background?

I studied Contemporary Arts (CA) at Ramapo College of New Jersey. CA is Ramapo’s way of saying that I made my own major in the CA school. I wanted to study design but I also have a love of reading and writing, so I studied both! I’m primarily a web and UI/UX designer in training, but I love doing branding and print work when I get the chance.

What’s on repeat on your Spotify?

It varies from month to month. Right now I’m loving Minus the Bear’s new album Voids, Sufjan Steven’s Carrie & Lowell, and anything by BadBadNotGood. It really depends on the weather, too.

What has been your favorite project to work on so far at Trillion?

I’ve only been at Trillion for a little over a month, but I’ve had the chance to work on a few things. I had a blast working on the supplementary identity asset pitches for NYC’s First Presbyterian Church Nursery School. Designing things focused around families and children is so much fun; you get to try out a lot of colors, patterns, and textures.

What is the last book you read?

That’s a tough question for me to answer. I’m reading as many as 4 books at the same time. I try to balance reading for work with reading for pleasure. I’m currently reading Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall; The Design of Everyday Things by Donald Norman; and Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. The last book series I finished was The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell. It’s an awesome fantasy trilogy about the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This may be controversial, but I think it’s better than the Game of Thrones books.

Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere. Aside from Medium, design blogs, and design books, I find inspiration in museums, flyers I get in the mail, magazines, books, train stations, anything I see and everywhere I go. Design and user experiences are everywhere if you pay attention.

How do you feel about being a Trillionaire?

Not to be too cheesy, but I feel wealthy with opportunities for great design, learning, and growth!
