Sometimes a story requires a special and unique approach in delivering its message. Scroll-based animation in a website design was the perfect way to deliver this story.

Scroll-based animation is a way to tell a story at the exact rate of a user’s engagement. Similarly to parallaxing, as the user scrolls down, different animations appear and present information in exciting, interactive ways. It allows the user to control the speed and rate at which they absorb and interact with the story.

For the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund (NJPRF), an unprecedented number of people from all over the world came together to support New Jerseyans in need. The fund was created to address the social, economic, and medical impact of COVID-19 on New Jersey. They raised over $65 million in less than a year and distributed funds to 500+ non-profit organizations across the crisis-stricken state.

Trillion set out to tell an engaging story highlighting the needs that COVID-19 created, the sad realities of a global pandemic, and more importantly, the impact of love and support shared toward the people of New Jersey. We recommended the concept and design of an animated scrolling web page to thank everyone and communicate the story of accomplishment. We helped craft the story and messaging on the page as well as developed the interactivity and deployment across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.

“Utilizing Trillion’s design sensibilities and technical know-how to help the NJPRF tell their amazing story was an honor, and exciting to be a part of. Our idea of using scroll-based animations as a story-telling tool was well received by the entire team,” said Lou Leonardis, Partner and Creative Director at Trillion.

The web page that Trillion designed for the NJPRF says “thank you” to all of the people and corporations that generously donated to help New Jerseyans—in a unique way.  Our custom design echoed the brand’s existing look-and-feel alongside our story-telling language, imagery, animations, and video.
