Guiding Hundreds Through a Self-Guided Tour

An inaugural neighborhood tour needs a printed guide that helps attendees navigate a full day of stops and understand what makes each one worth visiting. The piece has to work as both a wayfinding map and an introduction to the buildings and organizations on the route.

Newark Downtown District, Newark’s special improvement district, hosted its inaugural Downtown Living Tour, a day-long, self-guided tour of the area’s new apartment buildings, restaurants, and cultural organizations.

A Guidebook Built for the Route

Trillion developed the accompanying guidebook that was given out to all attendees. Inside, a map provided the tour stops along with information about each participating building and organization.

Results

An astounding 700 people attended the event, and the tour booklet will serve as a model for Living Tour events in subsequent years.
